This Greek appetizer or "mezze" perfectly combines the flavors of savory feta, buttery phyllo, and sweet honey. Sprinkled with black and white sesame seeds, they're sure to be a hit at your next party! These are best enjoyed right out of the oven but also do well served at room temperature.

Ingredients (yield 15 pieces)
  • 1 pound room temperature phyllo dough
  • 10 ounces feta
  • 4 ounces unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2-3 tablespoons sesame seeds

Time - 45 minutes
  • Preparation - 30 minutes
  • Baking (350 degrees) - 15 minutes

Preparation
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
  • While the oven is heating, cut the feta into quarter inch slices. If using crumbled feta, set aside in a small bowl
  • Melt the butter in a bowl in the microwave for 30 seconds
  • Unwrap the phyllo onto a flat surface and using a sharp knife, cut the phyllo in half lengthwise
  • Combine the two halves into one pile
  • Lay a first strip of phyllo dough out on the baking sheet
  • Brush generously with melted butter
  • Layer a second strip of phyllo dough on top
  • Place one piece of feta or one tablespoon of crumbled feta at one end of the phyllo and wrap like a burrito lengthwise
  • Wrap the "feta burrito" with a third strip of phyllo
  • Brush the exterior with butter and set aside on a baking pan
  • Repeat the process with the remaining feta and phyllo
  • Place the pan on the center rack of the oven and bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until golden brown

  • Remove the pan from the oven
  • Place the feta rolls on a serving dish, drizzle with honey, sprinkle with sesame seeds, and serve

The tanginess of the fetta with the sweetness of the honey. Plus the nuttiness of the sesame. Great combination.
